Richard asks…

Best Web Hosting Service????

I was wondering if anyone had suggestions on which is the best web hosting service???? There’s so many to choose from and so many different prices. I’ve heard that the cheap ones aren’t necessarily good if you want to drive a lot of traffic because places like google won’t recognize the cheap-o web hosts.

I want to set up an informational website, that will eventually have income-generating ads….. so at first it will be relatively small-medium. And I hope to drive a LOT of traffic to it.

These are some of the hosts I’ve come across: (Tell me if they’re any good?)
~Site Build It
~PowWeb
~1&1
~ThinkWeb
~FutureQuest
~pair Networks

PLEASE, if you have used any of these or heard of someone using these…. give me your opinions on them! I need to figure out which ones are good and which ones would screw me over!

Remember: I want to EVENTUALLY have an income-generating informational website

admin answers:

For free try freehostia else you can buy web hosting from website like https://aplis.net/ , as the traffic increases to your website you can upgrade your web hosting plan.

Check My Webbie Hosting’s plans. Aside from being cheap, the plans includes a lot of features. They also guarantee 24/7 phone support, email and chat support. You also check their control panel demo to check their services.

The cheapest plan is worth $3.95/month. Free domain name is already included.

Your Questions About Web Host For Frontpage

David asks…

Webpage design:I have a domain registered and want to upload some content on my site.. How do I go about it?

I prefer doing it myself and can work with HTML / FrontPage Express and other softwares. I need to know how do I upload it on the web.. Also, do I need someone to host it for me on their server or can I do it myslf from my computer?

admin answers:

Yep, you actually need web hosting service too. A domain name itself does nothing

Sandy asks…

I need a software for editing a site…?

I need to easily edit my web page. Add text, change text, pictures. Bold, color, etc. I used to use frontpage and really liked that, but no longer have it. I don’t want to pay either. Any suggestions?

I am not needing a hosting site or help on building a site. I have a site. I need a easy to use software to edit my site with….

admin answers:

Don’t think you’ll get anything free without it coming with hosting – you could try *ahem* downloading frontpage or DREAMWEAVER!!! And *cough* cracking it – but I didn’t type that…lol
you really should just splash out and buy it

Nancy asks…

Queation about Dreamweaver!!!?

I want to use dreamweaver for professional web designing. Currently i m using Frontpage and its preaty much eash to self understand. Is the Dreamweaver 8 easyy to understand using E-Book?
I also wanna ask can the files created in Dreamweaver 8 be hosted in windows hosting server?
Can Dreamweaver be used by integrateing it with PHP?

admin answers:

Yes, yes and yes.

Joseph asks…

What do you think of my ecommerce website?

https://www.doublehappinessrecords.co.uk/

It’s very basic… Hopefully all the basic information is there though. I’m not very skilled on web design to be honest. For the technically minded I am using FrontPage 2002. I am still trying to work out how to get images into OSCommerce from an external host so there are no product images yet…

NB No offers of paid assistance or links to your web design company please, thank you!
I won’t be paying anyone else to work on the site, I don’t have the budget, can’t justify the expense, I am 100% independent in my business dealings and intend to stay that way. It’s no good for me to spend 2 years getting an ecommerce business going and then turn responsibilty over to someone else – not an option!

admin answers:

Standard osCommerce, just like 10,000 other shops out there. If you treat your business like this, customers MIGHT wonder how you treat them. To work for two years setting this up, then rely on the standard theme of osC is not good business sense in my opinion.

Go and grab a free template if you can’t pay for anything. Inspiration in the source link.

Your Questions About Web Hosting Companies

William asks…

What is the best web hosting company for a small business?

I’m making a website for a small business. I’m not interested in free websites because I need it to be dependable and ad-free. What web hosting company has the best customer service for the best price?

admin answers:

Heres some coupon codes to save you some money with Hostgator:

yahooAnswers1 – $0.01 for the first month, and as low as $3.95/month after.
YahooAnswers25 – 25% off your total, works for all packages
yahooAnswers2494 – $24.94 off reseller packages

George asks…

Is there an official UK body you can complain to about web hosting companies with poor service?

I have bought a new web hosting package because I wasn’t happy with streamline.net. I have tried 3 times now over a 2 week period to change the nameservers but they are not updating. I’ve emailed streamline’s so called customer services twice & have had no response. There’s no telephone contact for the company so I feel trapped. I’ve paid for a years hosting with the new host but obviously my website is not live & looks like it’s never going to be. Is there somewhere you can make a complaint against web hosting companies, or some official body that I can contact to enforce this? I feel like streamline are penalising me for switching. Thanks

admin answers:

Yes, OfCom, but don’t hold your breath they are USELESS,.

Mandy asks…

Web Hosting?

I am starting a web hosting company. Do you think that the feature i give and the prices are ok?

https://webhosting.mi-infopc.com/ourplans.html

NOTE the page is in spanish but you can translate it frome here
https://babelfish.altavista.com/

admin answers:

Hhhmm… Well you realy do need to include a lot more databases, and trade some of that data transfer in for disk space. Great data transfer though. So just realy add a little more for everything, and trade some data transfer for disk space.

Laura asks…

What is the best internet web hosting company for a potential web site with videos and pictures?

I want to create a web site for my videos, but I want to know which hosting company or plan to choose. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

admin answers:

If you intend to create a few websites (usually you will end up more than 1 website), go for multiple web hosting where you could handle your websites in one account.

I suggest following webhosting , they are quite good.

Hostmonster https://anurl.com/?PQMRY

They offer hosting of “unlimited domains” and you will get massive webspace of 200000 MB (200 GB ). They only charge $4.95/month and they offer “a free Domain Name” and installing service called “Fantastico”. By using Fantastico, you could create own forum, photo gallery, shopping cart (e-commerce),your own auction site and your own blogs within few seconds. They also offer “Free Website Builder” as well.
Visit the site to check details.

Hostmonster https://anurl.com/?PQMRY

Domains
Following site is quite good to register domains as price is reasonable with free privacy. Some charge about $5/ year just for free privacy.

Your Questions About Domain Web Host

James asks…

Difference between domain names and web hosts?

I want to go through a web host but apparently they have the ability to suspend your account and they control how much bandwidth you have and all that, so if I just bought a domain name without having a web host, could I still have unlimited bandwith and not have anyone suspend my account?

Whats the difference between buying a web host and buying a domain name?

admin answers:

A webhost is a computer that is connected to internet and has the ability to store and serve files when requested(only one of the many services that can be provided) . Each webhost has unique or set of unique adresses called IP address (for example 127.0.0.1 or 123.123.123.123). Since remembering such such numbers can be difficult, a Domain Name System (DNS) is used that allows to refer/reach these webhosts by using names such as www.xyz.com that are easy to remember.

When you purchase a domain, you just get to own this label (xyz.com) for the period of time you register(usually 1 year). Since a domain cannot by itself serve file, you will need a webhost to which this labels will point to. Say your webhost’s IP address is 123.123.123.123 you configure your domain from registrar’s control panel to point it to 123.123.123.123. Once you do this, your domain registration service provider’s software will pass this information to 13 root nameserver(refer to source links) that store this configuration.

When a browser requests www.xyz.com, the browser requests the IP address for this name from your ISP. If ISP doesn’t know this, it will request one of the 13 root nameservers. Since the root nameserver already know the IP address associated with your name/label, it will reply with IP address and the ISP will pass it on to your browser. The browser will then request, using the IP address, the webhost for the files that need to be served.

Hope this helps

Can I buy some space from a web host without having a Domain name?

I want to get some space and add a domain name a lil later. Is this possible?

admin answers:

Yea that’s possible. Though like the others said, not very wise for your wallet. But there are some great coupons out there now for saving some bucks so act quick before they’re gone.

Paul asks…

when you start up a website and use a web host is the web hosts’ address included in the domain name?

No.

Web Domain & Hosting; any GOOD, trust worthy, and cheap sites I can check out?

I had GoDaddy about 2 years ago, didn’t go too well let me tell you.
Now I’m using Blue Host, but I’m wondering if there is anything cheaper?
With decent space, et cetera. I could care less about e-mail accounts, et cetera.

Something with monthly payments would be great actually. I’m usually finding sites that have a pay for a whole year and I’m not up for that this time
Anywho~

Thanks for reading!

Mary asks…

Web Hosting Question?

Hello Everyone,

Found this web host named buzzhosting and unsure as to weather or not I should actually go ahead and purchase web hosting with them, i am looking at there BronzePlan seeing as my mate is also with them on that same plan… Will this plan meet the requirement’s to create a wordpress blog or basic forum? Or maybe even both… Or should I consider one of there higher more expensive plans?

I have been thinking about BlueHost, JustHost, 1&1, 123-reg, and fasthost’s however I have already been with JustHost and 1&1 and I was not very happy with the quality of there services.

Anyway the website for buzzhosting is:
https://buzzhosting.org

Thanks,
Jake

admin answers:

Hi Jake,

Avoid Buzzhosting, they are not a real hosting service, only a reseller of another reseller and their using domain privacy on their primary domain name. This just rings hundreds of bells in my ears. You’re likely to receive worse and worse support till your site one day suddenly goes offline because the reseller didn’t pay their monthly fee. It happens all the time. So heed my warning and stay clear, they are not a honest hosting service and will not be stable.

I know you said you don’t like the larger companies, but they are large as they are stable and doing somethings right.
I’ve had site with up to 8GB of data without having my sites suspended, this mostly happens with illegal materials and people trying to publish sites like Youtube, I wouldn’t really worry about it unless you are distributing illegal content or the main purpose of your site is to distribute many large files.

Here’s my experience and opinions on these hosts I’ve used.

HostGator: (The host I use now and highly recommend)
Is a little more expensive than the alternatives, however is this is easily made up for by their quality of service. They are also one of the few providers who support both PHP 5.2 and PHP 5.3, which has been the current version of PHP for almost a year now. PHP 5.2 supplied by other hosts is lacking too many features. Their baby plan is amazing and allows you to support as many websites as you like all with different domains. They’re big because they’re doing something right.
Http://www.hostgator25.com (25% Discount Link)
https://www.hostgator995.com ($9.95 Discount Link) <== 1c for a one month account
Coupon Codes:
PERMANENT25 = 25% off
PERMANENT995 = $9.95 off

HostMonster、Bluehost:
There are actually one company who used to be quite reputable, but their recent plans and lack of paypal support now have taken them down on my recommendation list. (PHP 5.2)
https://www.hostmonsterplus.com

Justhost:
Avoid at all costs, their "Instant Setup" took 22 hours of arguing with support to get mine activated. Support technicians while they seem friendly have no power to do anything at all. (PHP 5.2)
The hosting service works ok, however it's too much of a nightmare getting anything done with support. They also try to upsell you at every turn, don't buy the extras, they're not worth and and not refundable.

GoDaddy
If you're after a nightmare and wasted money, this is the place to go. They are fine for buying domains, just never use their hosting. (Not worth thinking about)
