Think of domain names and webhosting as an analogy to cellphone numbers and the wireless phone service providers.

The reason why you register your domain with one company and webhosting with another is so that the webhoster cannot take over your website. Supposed you get into an argument with your webhoster…it is easy to sign up for new webhosting service somewhere else and have the your domain registration company to point the domain to the new webhoster’s servers.

Suppose you mistakenly used the same company for registering AND hosting a domain and you do get into a dispute with them over bad service…they might take forever and give you a hard time if you try to transfer out the domain to another webhoster for service elsewhere.

There’s no need to move the domain name to Yahoo… When you set up the web page, there will be instructions on how to point the domain name to Yahoo domain name servers (DNS). Just log into GoDaddy, set the name servers, and you’re good-to-go.
