Betty asks…

What’s the BEST web host for a new and upcoming clothing site?

I found an external website to deal with carts, so no need for that. I just need a reliable host with a lot of features at the BEST cost…

HOSTS I’VE LOOKED AT:
Blue Host
Host Monster
One and One
GoDaddy

If you have any further inside knowledge on any of those (good or bad) then please fill me in. Or if you know a great host that isn’t on that list then please let me know too!

admin answers:

Hi,

When choosing a web host it’s of course important to consider the cost (some hosting can be very expensive) but here are some other important things you should take into consideration too:

Web Hosting Space: Some web hosts will only give you 500MB or so of space. This could be a concern if you are looking at creating large websites.

Bandwidth: Some web hosts will severely limit the bandwidth you can use before you incur extra charges.

Uptime: There’s no point in having a website if people can’t see it. Does your web host offer at least a 99% uptime guarantee?

Number of websites allowed: If you’re looking to host more than one website on your account, will your web host charge you more to do this?

Support: If you have any problems you need to be able to contact your web host quickly and easily to get the problem sorted.

I have used Hostgator as my web host for over two years now and have been very very impressed with them. Firstly they’re very cheap but still give me more web hosting space and bandwidth than I’ll ever need, the ability to host unlimited websites, a 99.9% uptime guarantee and great customer support. You can find them at https://www.webhostgator.info

Does anybody know any decent free web hosting services?

So I want to try out a free web hosting service for a little while so that I can figure out exactly what I need and how it all works before I commit and spend money. Does anyone know of any decent FREE web hosts? and I want free…I don’t want to be asked for a credit card number or anything.
Thanks for your help!
Thanks for you help!

admin answers:

If you want it to be in a form of a blog check:
Blogger https://www.blogger.com
or
Wordpress https://www.wordpress.com

You could also check: https://www.webs.com

But it’s totally different. You won’t really be able to compare it.
Paid hosting offers a lot more and through a different interface.

Donna asks…

I pay yahoo for web hosting services why is my site not coming up on yahoo?

I have submitted this site on several ocassion with no reponse.

admin answers:

As far as I understand, paying for Yahoo web hosting services has nothing to do with whether you come up in search results or not. You can submit your site to search engines, and if the content is good, you will appear in the search results. This usually takes some time, so be patient.

Daniel asks…

How do I upload onto yahoo business web hosting servers?

I would like to know how and where it is I go to upload information and data onto one of yahoo‘s web hosting servers, I have a client that already has a business account but I was unable to figure out what to do. I most likely skimmed over it but would still like guidance rather than run blindly. I’d appreciate it greatly, thanks in advance.

admin answers:

Hello,

You could use an FTP software. The tutorial below should help you with using Filezilla FTP program.

Link to download: https://filezilla-project.org/ and click on download Filezilla client.

Filezilla Setup article: https://www.w3hub.org/doc/filezilla/

After you login to the FTP client filezilla using
1. Your IP address (X.X.X.X)
2. Your FTP login
3. Your FTP password

You should be able to see the pages on your site. You can then drag and drop files to your server to upload or download them.

Good Luck!

Lisa asks…

How much in fact do you pay per month for Yahoo Web Hosting?

They say they charge $8.96/Month for the first 3 months and $11.95 therafter. Is it true? Do you pay another?
What do you think of the overall service? Wed design tools?

admin answers:

Honestly I love my Yahoo Small Business account. My total with tax is $13.94 but that’s because I was in under the monthly plan. The new plan is billed every 3 months. The service is great. I use the site builder software and it’s very easy to create and post changes. I would encourage you to consider it. I tried 1&1 service and it was awful. I have heard about Go Daddy but no experience to share. If you have a legitimate business, you can write off the hosting fees.

Your Questions About Google Web Hosting

admin answers:

If you look for web hosting, don’t rush into it. Read reviews about web hosting and decide properly before going ahead with web hosting.

I personally will recommend you a web hosting which many people find it very reliable. It is hostmonster.

Before deciding to sign up hostmonster, read the reviews and stats about hostmonster at the following website.

Lizzie asks…

Google adsense with Yahoo web hosting?

I’m trying to set up my google adsense account so I can display ads on my new site. This is what the Google Domain set up says to do:

1. Log in to your account at smallbusiness.yahoo.com

2. Click Domain Control Panel below the domain you’d like to use with AdSense for domains

3. Click Manage Advanced DNS Settings.

4. By default, there are 2 A Records & 2 CNAME Records created for your domains, some of these will be replaced automatically

1. Click Add Record. Enter www for the source, and pub-xxxxxxxxx.afd.ghs.google.com. for the Destination (where pub-xxxxxxxxx is your unique string found on the AdSense for domains setup page). Click Submit, and click Submit on the following screen.

2. Click Add Record. Leave the Source field blank and enter XXX.XXX.XX.XX for Destination. Click Submit, and click Submit on the following screen.

3. Click Add Record. Leave the Source field blank and enter XXX.XXX.XX.XX for Destination. Click Submit, and click Submit on the following screen.

4. Click Add Record. Leave the Source field blank and enter XXX.XXX.XX.XX for Destination. Click Submit, and click Submit on the following screen.

5. Click Add Record. Leave the Source field blank and enter XXX.XXX.XX.XX for Destination. Click Submit, and click Submit on the following screen.

Congratulations! Your domain is now configured to point to Google. Keep in mind that changes to DNS record settings may take up to 48 hours.
———————————————

(where the X’s are, are actual destination numbers; didn’t know if I should post that.)

By the time I get to step 2 of the second set of instructions, where it says to leave the source field blank, and I hit submit, I get a message that pops up and says, “The record that you requested cannot be set up because it would otherwise interfere with DNS records Yahoo! has created to support your service. Please choose a different source hostname.”

I am at a loss here. I contacted Yahoo! directly but the guy said he couldn’t help me because you cannot leave the source field blank and he had no other suggestions for me. I cannot find a way to contact Google directly and I found this question posed in the adsense forums but no one apparently knew the answer. I would appreciate some help. I’m sure some people who have Yahoo! Web Hosting services have Google Adsense on their site. I have limited experience in these matters. Thank you,

admin answers:

Regrettably, the agent is correct. You cannot set up a wildcard record (leaving the source empty), when you are utilizing a web hosting account with Yahoo!. You would need to have either a domains only or business mail account to set up wildcard records.

When using adsense, you should be able to just add the code to your page instead of setting up an A or CNAME record. I’ve actually never heard of the steps above for using adsense, what that is doing, is pointing your website to Google, not adding adsense I don’t think. Granted, I dont really use adsense, but last time I did, all I had to do was add the code snippet to my site pages.

You should be following the below steps.

Log in to the adsense account and obtain the HTML code for the approved site. Type in the username and password in the adsense log in box. Next click on the “Adsense setup” tab. Click on the “Adsense for content” link. Choose the “Ad unit” option in the next screen and select “Continue.” And finally select the correct “Ad format” and then choose “Continue.”

Copy and paste the generated ad code into the appropriate section of the web site. In the grey Google adsense box there is HTML code to copy into the user web site. Copy that code and place in the appropriate place in the web site.

Paul asks…

What are free web hosting services, like Tripod where you have no ads, like google pages but you can use FTP?

You can use Front page or FTP Client to publish pages to a server, I don’t like google pages, yet i want FTP compatibility like tripod but no ads

admin answers:

There are many web hosting providers and you might become confused to choose which one. It is very important that you choose a good web host. Good doesn’t mean expensive. Good means reliable with great support.

Some people try to save money and choose to go with a free web host. They usually realize pretty quickly what a huge mistake that is. I’m all for free whenever possible, but free web hosting will end up costing much more than you save.

But, let’s face it – how do you know if a web host is good or not? They all look pretty much the same and they seem like they know what they are doing, right? Well, I recommend reading reviews so that you may compare and become more familiar with the hosting companies before making a decision.

When you choose a web host, make sure they have excellent support. If you have a problem with your web site you want help now, not in a day or two.

Your Questions About Domain Web Host

Lisa asks…

What is the best and cheap domain and web hosting ?

My maximum budget is £10 a year and i am looking for a cheap web and domain hosting. It would be great if you could find me a great one i have heard of 50webs which is a free web hosting and with a combination of a domain it is going to be great therefore i would like you you to give me some suggestion.

10 Points for best answer

admin answers:

There are a lot of ‘cheap’ hosts out there but it’s even cheaper if you go with an American host as they won’t charge you 15% VAT (would of been cheaper anyway due to currencey rates). Most of the host also give away free domain names with their packages.

I personally recommend iPage but you pay on a yearly basis.

Any consideration, I’d say Just Host or even Host Gator.

Mary asks…

what web host is best that has 100% free hosting and domain?

i’m looking for a web hosting site with a hundred percent free hosting and also another hundred percent free domain. any suggestions? i need it all in one. also it has to be unlimited…i could use it with FTP or something like that…and many many features…! no ads please…anything that seemd to be the best and everything you want for free thanks!

admin answers:

Was it wrong for me to laugh when I read this question?

Probably not, as you have unrealistic expectations for a person with a $0 budget.

There is no way to get a free domain name. Period. A domain is an example of something that “someone” has to pay for, if not you, then someone else.

It would literally take millions and millions in order for a company to give out free domains, along with free hosting on top of that.

And obviously no individual would want to buy a domain name for a stranger.

There are sites that offer free domain hosting, but of course it will not be as reliable as paid hosting and you will probably not get the amount of space you want. Not to mention, with all free things, you would probably be with the same host for a short period of time. The main reason for this is the company probably would not be around forever, since it’s free. And that’s the problem with free stuff. It’s never permanent.

So you may ask yourself, “Ok, so how can I get a domain name without paying for it?”

Since there are no free domain names, and you are probably a teenager, your only viable option is to ask your parents and relatives to buy you a domain name and a hosting package. Use every holiday to your advantage. Your birthday. Christmas. Arbor Day. Heck, make up a holiday if you need to.

If that does not work, then I would suggest you to wait until you can buy a domain and hosting on your own.

If you can not wait, then I do not know what to suggest. You can’t get a free domain name. No one wants to buy you one. You don’t want to be on a freeserver. The only thing I can suggest is for you to not make a website, if you have so many restrictions.

And not to mention, because there are no free domains, and you will probably not be satisfied with free hosting, I don’t see you getting a domain name and a hosting package, unless your parents or relatives buys them for you, so you might as well wait, right?

Joseph asks…

Buying a domain name and web host?

Does it matter where I purchase my domain name and web host? If it does, why?

admin answers:

It really doesnt matter too much. But it depends on how big your site will be so you’ll need a certain amount of space (mb, gb, etc.) Godaddy.com is a good place for domain purchase and web host so check them out.

Linda asks…

Singapore web host and domain is a ripped off?

I just wanna know why, why does registering a domain name ( .com, .net etc ) cost like 60 bucks a year ( USD41.67 )?

And about their web host it cost like $8 a month and they give very limited bandwidth and web space, the worst of it some even wants you to pay like $25 bucks for PHP and additional $10 for 1 sql database?

Why can’t singapore web host be like yahoo or something? unlimited web space, bandwidth, domain database… whatever

admin answers:

Just because they want to earn more, just use any other oversea hosts that are cheaper yet reliable.
