I have never seen a web hosting company cheaper than 1 dollar per month. I think you should be careful though, notice how one thing that isn’t on that list is any kind of customer service?

If you have a problem, you will be out of luck. Go with godaddy or something that costs a few dollars more. I like godaddy because there is always someone you can call if you need help with anything, and they speak english.

Several questions here, I’ll try to answer in separate points below:

1. Learning web development
That’s a personal style question. For me I found it easiest to take a course to make me focus at first. I then went head-first hands-on and learned wayy more. I suggest the basics you need are HTML and CSS. Everthing beyond that is dependent on what you want to do.

2. Web Hosting
Suggest if you’re actually selling on-line and showcasing your work that you may want a dedicated site. Free hosting may not be all that impressive to potential client…
I have found https://www.canadawebhosting.ca/ to be excellent, but maybe more than you want to spend. They are Canadian based and have phenomenal customer support. You also get a mySql DB (DataBase) at no extra charge – comes in handy for advanced tools.

3. As for selling on-line, if it’s just templates and low inventory you can set-up a PayPal solution and use a PayPal shopping cart. If you have greater needs, then that would again push you into dedicated hosting with a database option.

Now, just what are you selling? You may want to post some follow up questions to get a feel for how much consumer interest there may be in your offering. I would suggest against Yahoo as a web host. They lack alot of the features your likely to grow into if your looking to found a growing business. They also charge ungodly extra for features that most webhosts give for free.

You should try a more logical and economical host such at the one I now use. Www.drilikath.net They charge less and offer more features. Tech support is more reliable, and they have fewer limitations on what they will complain about you doing. Run your own store, they will not quadruple your price because your using the web space for a store. Infact they will help you out and wish for your success.

Ranting aside, yes you can renew your 1 year plan. Infact they will renew it for you if you do not remember to cancel.

There is no role of domain or hosting provider in this. It is completely depends on ISP ( Internet connection ) you use. ISP’s cache the DNS of domains, which cause old records to show.

In most ISP they update DNS within 24 Hrs. But few ISP may take upto 48 Hrs.
