Your Questions About Yahoo Web Host

Laura asks…

Is there a limit to the number of web pages I can have on yahoo web hosting?

I want to start my own website.

admin answers:

Yes I would agree. I have had issues with yahoo web hosting. I use to use the free version. I now use https://webhosting.thumbtak.net.

As for limit there is not too many hostings that limit the amount of pages you can have. It is only limited to the size of the site.

John asks…

I want to use my own code for yahoo web hosting.?

I’m thinking about using yahoo small business as a web host for my website but i don’t want to use the the website builders that yahoo has and I want to use my own html code that I wrote up myself. Would I be able to do that if I signed up for a web hosting account on yahoo? I would like to know before I shell out some money and find out I cant use my own code.

admin answers:

I’m not sure about yahoo web hosting.

I’m currently using TLS Hosting ( https://tlshosting.com ). I suggest you use that webhost. It’s cheap, and reliable. It really deliver 99.99% on all my websites. I monitor my websites using third-party source. They also gives under 45 minutes reply on all my support tickets. They are really good.

Anyways, TLS Hosting allows you to use your own HTML code. They have script installer as well, if you want to build your site with wordpress or joomla cms.

Your Questions About Yahoo Web Hosting

Mark asks…

Page Builder in Yahoo Web Hosting Problem?

For some reason all my pages in subdirectories of my site https://www.barrettsmallengine.com will no longer open with Page Builder. The pages in my main directory open just fine. Anyone know what is going on at Yahoo Web Hosting?
I think I found the problem. If you view the source code of the file manager in the root directory, and then view the source code of the file manager in a subdirectory, there is a difference in the link for each file. Here it is:
IN ROOT DIRECTORY:
Edit HTML code

IN SUBDIRECTORIES:
Edit HTML code

The difference is the “type=html” this is now added to the file links in the subdirectory File Manager for some unknown reason. It is likely the reason why Page Builder won’t recognize the files.
Looks like I was a little fast off the mark with that additional information about the cause, because one hour later and Yahoo Web Hosting has fixed the problem. The “type=html” has also disappeared from the file links in the subdirectory source code. I am very relieved!
Maybe I wasn’t so fast off the mark. After the problem was fixed last night, and receiving an email from Yahoo saying the problem was resolved, today the problem is back again. However today some pages in only one of my subdirectories still open with Page Builder. All the others have that “type=html” in the file links again. What a mess!
After 4 phone calls that run you through the same drawn out process and leave you with no answers, and countless emails that get an automated responce, I have come to the conclusion that Yahoo Small Business does not care about it’s customers. It’s now been over a week that I have been unable to edit my pages in subdirectories. I have been a loyal customer of Yahoo Web Hosting since 2003, and this kind of treatment is unacceptable. If I am forced to start using a different program to create my website I will no longer pay a company like Yahoo to host it. They need to remove the “Small Business” from the name of their service, because small business needs reliability from it’s suppliers, and Yahoo‘s web hosting service is too full of problems and poor service. It’s clear that our choices are to wait for some one at the amateur Yahoo Small Business service to get around to fixing this problem, or move our sites to a professional hosting provider. I know my patience is running out!
I probably should not be surprised by what a mess Yahoo Small Business is. Just take a look at the search engine. I could never understand why Yahoo doesn’t understand why Google is more successful. It’s not because a Google search returns better results than Yahoo. It’s because Yahoo.com looks more like CNN.com than a search engine. When I want to search for something I like the simple straight forward approach that Google offers. If I want to read the news I will go to CNN. Yahoo should have picked one long ago, either a search engine or a news provider but not both. As for returning poor search results, that would MSN’s problem (or Bing or what ever they are calling it now). If Yahoo dumped all news, annoying links and other clutter I would chose it over Google any day, and I bet I’m not the only one.

admin answers:

I had the exact same problem. I ended up switching to a different hosting company after I got no response from yahoo to resolve my issues, and they made a simple task so difficult when I tried to change DNS settings for my domain from yahoo to the new host I conveniently got an “error” and “try again later” message.

I know you’re feeling let down by yahoo after being with them for so long, but to be honest, make it your business decision to move on to something better.

Here’s the hosting company I found:

www.tastyhost.com

Their rates are very low, their tech support is excellent, and above all, I like that security is their main concern. At least for me, I know trusting a company with my site means a lot. I need to know the time I’ve invested to my site will not be taken lightly, as it did with yahoo (it’s strictly business…I still like yahoo)

Laura asks…

Can I publish Yahoo Site Builder using non Yahoo Web Hosting?

I want to Publish a Yahoo Site Builder website and I don’t want to use Yahoo‘s hosting as there is other hostings cheaper etc.

Is this possible? Or have I just made a large site for nothing!

thanks in advance

admin answers:

I’m afraid you cannot publish the yahoo site builder directly to another web hosting, but after you published the website to yahoo account, you could download the website files and upload it to another webhosting to take a try

Good Luck!
Selina

George asks…

Can yahoo web hosting support more than one domain name?

Can I manage more than one domain name with only one yahoo web hosting account?
Example: Can I manage awsssome.com, wdfef.net, asfagfa.com with only one YAHOO WEB HOSTING account?

admin answers:

Well , there is hostgator , google host yahoo and godaddy.
But the most recommended and best web host so far is www.NetworkJuiceHosting.com ; Network Juice.

They now offer plans starting around $0.99 for a great amount of diskspace plus everything else unlimited. Plus they’ve manage to keep up 99% Uptime.

They have all features such as PHP5, Cpanel , Fantastico , Cron Job , Apache ,Unlimited Dadabase , ftp accounts and much more.

There are other affordable plans as well in NetworkJuiceHosting.com.

Hostgator.com is also a great host , but there Uptime time is not so good. Also , customer service is very poor.

Google.com not so sure , But i know there’s lots of files they do not support , no Cpanel , and i don’t know how come , but they have been receiving downtimes lately in their host servers.

Yahoo , let me just say it’s the worst web host ever , you can’t even host the amount of domains you want to host . Including FatCow.com. The downtown time is way to much , and many files are un-compatible in fatcow for some reason.

To buy a domain , the most recommended site is godaddy , but not for it’s hosting!! I Tell you !!!.

For a Great Affordable web host with maximum features , the most recommended web host is www.NetworkJuiceHosting.com . ; Network Juice Hosting.

You are getting your answers from an expert , and yes I have tried all these web host.

That’s all I got to say mate 😉

Your Questions About Web Host For Frontpage

Robert asks…

Web hosting, combining different technologies?

I have a general question about webserving technology: Can I have a web application that combines PHP and any one of FrontPage apps, lets say on one site.. or on one page?

Would this be parsed/evaluated one after another?
Can they share variables/ share data in memory?
If they are eval’d sequentially, what if they conflict, setTitle(this).. then setTitle(that)..?

I am looking at this site: https://www.ipower.com/ipower/web-hosting/unix-compare-plans.bml

which has both FrontPage and PHP interfaces.. I am looking to find out whether or not I can develop in C# (lets say).

Thank you, I appreciate your help/time! I am looking for a high-level/white paper answer, thank you.

admin answers:

Ruth asks…

Web Hosting?

I registered a domain name for my company a few years ago, as an example www.greatsolutions.co.uk.

I want to be able to make it into a website now, i want to get a company to host the website (i’m going to figure out how to design it in something like MS frontpage). Can i just tell them my domain name or do i have to ‘deregister’ it from the register company and reregister it with the new company or what?

Finally will i be able to get an email address like emma.hope@greatsolutions.co.uk from a webhost company?

Does any have any recommendations of a company that could do this for me, i want someone i can use (i am UK based) and offers good value for money (not necessarily the cheapest), good customer service etc.
I want a web hosting company that specifically hosts websites not a huge company like yahoo who do many different things, i also want someone based in the UK with a decent ‘person’ customer service that i can speak to. Don’t know of anyone that has ever spoken to someone at Yahoo

admin answers:

Hi, points all below:

1. Your Domain – The most important thing to remember is to never never move your domain to the hosting company, you want to keep your domain at your current register company and only change the DNS servers. The reason is that you want to keep control of that domain name as bad hosting companies in the past have sometimes held it hostage to make you pay and stay with them or if they go bankrupt its hard for you to get your domain back. When you sign up with a hosting company they will give you DNS servers and then you can just go into your current register and change your DNS servers to those and within 10 to 36 hours everything will be working.

2. Your Email – yep that is no problem, the hosting company will have a control panel you can use to make those emails. Its easy and they will probably have a flash movie to show you how.

3. Recommended UK based companies – For someone who focuses on web hosting and is inexpensive but not the cheapest and has good customer service I recommend the below:

UK2.Net – https://uk2.net/ – One of the bigger UK based companies, reviews are not great but that is just because they are one of the bigger ones, still a good cheap host. (User reviews at https://www.webhostingunleashed.com/uk2 and https://www.uk2reviews.com/)

DataFlame – https://www.dataflame.co.uk/ – Decent company, but has good user reviews (Revies at https://www.webhostingunleashed.com/dataflame and https://www.dataflamereviews.com/)

HostNine – Their staff is US based but they have UK based servers, mid size and very good reviews (Reviews at https://www.webhostingunleashed.com/hostnine and https://www.hostninereviews.com). Depends on if you want UK based service.

You might also check out https://2uk2.com/, newer so don’t know too much about them. Also you can get a lot of info on a host by searching on WebHostingTalk.com for the hosts name too or for uk based hosts and it comes up with a few more.

Good luck!
Thanks, Ben

Nancy asks…

Creating and/or maintaining web site…help!?

In the past I have kept up a website for a company that was put together with Frontpage 2003. I learned as I went and have been ok at maintaining a simple website. Now I am getting more into helping new clients and I need help. A couple of questions:

1) If I have someone that has a website done with dreamweaver but they don’t like it and I can do pages in front page 2003 is there a way to upload the pages in place of the dreamweaver pages with the web host?

2) As I am slowly learning about websites, etc. what are the latest programs? Is there even a new version of front page? What do most people use? What should I be looking for?

Any information on these topics would be helpful.

admin answers:

I’ll answer your questions first.

1. Yes. It is possible. Dreamweaver is an website development tool that is based on open standards (HTML, CSS, javascripts, XML) . Also, try to keep your development with Frontpage 2003 based on open standards as well and not use specific FrontPage features (webbots, etc.)
2. The latest for professionals? Still Adobe/Macromedia Dreamweaver and from Microsoft, Expression Web. FrontPage has long expired (since 2003). Expression Web is the successor.

Knowing your situation, you should consider trying Microsoft Office Live Small Business since you are developing websites for clients. You can even do this as a business by helping companies go online. Office Live is a complete all-in-one internet toolkit to get a professional online presence for small businesses. It has an easy to use online web designer tool with templates which allows you to create a website without the need to know how to do HTML/CSS coding. You can also upload your own website that you create with Dreamweaver, FrontPage, Expresison Web, etc. – it has 500MB of storage. This is a free service.

Currently Microsoft is offering a free domain name (i.e. Yourdomain.com) for the first year. Of course, if you prefer, you can always use the free provided subdomain name.Office Live also comes with free email, contact manager, email marketing (add-on). Try it out:

Donna asks…

I need a something that enables me to add a blog to my existing website?

I am looking for something that is hopefully FREE! The web host i have does not have ftp access. I upload things to my site through Microsoft Frontpage so the software must not require FTP access.

admin answers:

I would start by asking your hosting provider. They may have blog software already installed on the server that you can use for your site. If not, things may get more complicated than you’re ready for…

Are you 100% sure your hosting provider won’t let you use ftp? Frontpage is using a form of ftp to get your info up in the first place. Anyway, ftp would make things easier if your provider doesn’t have the software installed and you want full control and blog hosting for your own personal site.

Without ftp, you can run a blog on another site, including Yahoo!. There may be a way to capture the RSS feed and then display it on your site…

Your Questions About Yahoo Small Business Web Hosting

Ruth asks…

With Yahoo Small Business, can I upload my own website, or do I have to use their easy site builder?

I want to buy into Yahoo!’s Small Business Web Hosting service, but I don’t know if I can use my own web site templates (HTML). I really want my site to be original, tending to what I like, and I don’t want it to follow some pre made template from Yahoo!. Thanks!

admin answers:

As far as I remember you can upload your own website created on your desk top. They give you the builder to make it easy for people who don’t have the programs or knowledge to make their own.

William asks…

yahoo small business cart integration to dreamweaver webpage?

I have setup the yahoo small business web hosting with the cart and what not but I want to design the page itself in Photoshop and use Dreamweaver to slice it up and set it up. After I design it, how do I then incorporate the shopping cart and database from yahoo? I hope this makes sense.

admin answers:

To integrate your cart and product catalog with Dreamweaver you will need to download the Yahoo! Merchant Solutions Dreamweaver Extension. Instructions on downloading and installing the extension can be found at https://yhoo.it/cVV7VH

Chris asks…

Will YAHOO accept online Bank Transfer payment instead of Master Card or Visa Card for Small Business Web?

Will YAHOO accept online Bank Transfer payment instead of Master Card or Visa Card for Small Business Web
Hosting?

admin answers:

I don’t think so. Yahoo currently offers only credit card as payment as of this point. This is actually the norm of most web site hosting services so don’t be surprised.

According to his domain registration entry on domaintools.com, the site is hosted by High Availability Web Hosting. So he does use a web hosting provider.

Charles asks…

I need a good Music web host provider anybody know of any.?

I have currently been using ripway to host my songs on my myspace page and would like to know if anyone knows of any other places that do the same thing.

admin answers:

On napster.com you can put songs on yur website for free. The bad thing about napster.com is that you can only lissten to each song 3 times for free and in order to listen to them you need an account there, even if you listen through your website.
