Your Questions About Yahoo Web Host
Chris asks…
is elgg.org compatible with yahoo web hosting?
i want to know is elgg.org compatible with the yahoo hosting web services. Also, is yahoo web hosting dreamweaver compatible? thanks guys
admin answers:
Elgg requires both mod_rewrite permissions and MySQL 5+ in order to function. Currently, Yahoo! Web Hosting does not provide support for MySQL 5+ or mod_rewrite with our web hosting plans.
Nancy asks…
Which is a better web host, Yahoo or GoDaddy?
Referring to features, domain name, and price. This is for a fan site. I plan to use Cutenews on it and it will have quite a few pages [at least ten, to say] and many images [among other things] so disk space, bandwith, etc. needs to be taken into consideration. I’m pretty new to building “professional” sites. Most of what I have done were personal sites where I and a couple friends went to.
If you know any other hosts that are a good please say so, it would be really appreciated.
Thank you :]
admin answers:
Http://www.JuicyHosting.com or https://www.LocoDomains.com are both better
Joseph asks…
Exactly how do you Change File Permissions using Yahoo Web Hosting Control Panel?
With my former host, all you do is click on file name; it immediately gives option list; one is “Change File Permissions.” Easy and simple. However, using Yahoo‘s Web Hosting Control panel, I find absolutely nothing that points me to “Change File Permissions.”
For example, help instruction mentions this code,
“chmod (“/directory/file.php”, 0644);”
But they fail to say what to do with it, HOW to get it to the proper place, and exactly WHERE that place is.
All I need to do is change one “file permission.” It’s a PHP filed called config.php, which is part of a “Suggest This Site or Tell A Friend” script.
I’ve read Yahoo‘s instructions over and again, and still find them very vague. They tell you WHAT to do, but not HOW or WHERE to find the items to which they refer.
For example, they simply say, “use the php function chmod to change file permissions.”
Attempting to follow that instruction, nothing on Yahoo web hosting control panel points to “permissions” button or icon.
Simplify.

admin answers:
If you intend to create more than 1 website, go for multiple web hosting where you could handle your websites in one account.
Visit Following webhosting , they are quite good.
