Your Questions About Web Host Reviews
Donna asks…
Are there any websites that review / rate web hosting services?
I’m currently looking for a website to host content for personal use and I’ll eventually want to move it into a more commercial role (i.e. selling merchandise) so I’ll need good merchant tools and if possible 24/7 support. If there were one place I could browse through the various options it would make my life a lot easier. Feel free to add any info / experiences you may have had, but best answer goes to he/she who can provide a good rating service / list of web hosting services. Thanks in advance, all!

Good, reliable, safe web host?
So many reviews, don’t know which ones are legit etc etc… Just looking for a safe, reliable web host for my first online business.

In my professional opinion I recommend and also use HostGator and used to happily use HostMonster. Here is some information from my experiences and some pricing details.
1 Year Plan – Total Price
HostGator: $89.52
HostMonster: $83.40
2 Year Plan – Total Price
HostGator: $161.04
HostMonster: $142.80
3 Year Plan – Total Price
HostGator: $214.56
HostMonster: $214.20
HostGator: (The host I use now and highly recommend)
Is a little more expensive than the alternatives, however is this is easily made up for by their quality of service. They are also one of the few providers who support both PHP 5.2 and PHP 5.3, which has been the current version of PHP for almost a year now. PHP 5.2 supplied by other hosts is lacking too many features. Their baby plan is amazing and allows you to support as many websites as you like all with different domains. They’re big because they’re doing something right.

HostMonster, Bluehost:
HostMonster is quite reputable and I used them for quite some years, however I transferred to Host Gator for PHP 5.3 support. (PHP 5.2)

Justhost:
Avoid at all costs, their "Instant Setup" took 22 hours of arguing with support to get mine activated. Support technicians while they seem friendly have no power to do anything at all. (PHP 5.2)
The hosting service works ok, however it's too much of a nightmare getting anything done with support. They also try to upsell you at every turn, don't buy the extras, they're not worth and and not refundable.
GoDaddy
If you're after a nightmare and wasted money, this is the place to go. They are fine for buying domains, just never use their hosting. (Not worth thinking about)
Richard asks…
I’m trying to find a new web host, where can I move my site?
I see a lot of sites that say Unlimited in all their categories, but then warnings about how that may be a lie. My site has never been down before. I host it at doteasy on their cheepy plan, but I’m looking for a host that can offer me more space for a better bargain. I’m looking to spend the least amount a month I can. Do you really get what you pay for or is there a site out there I can feel safe transferring to? Some of the reviews scare me and seem misleading.
4.99/month or less
Thank you for all your help, but I’m trying to keep my domain and only sign up for one year…
