Your Questions About 1 And 1 Web Hosting
Lizzie asks…
How do I get rid of the 1&1 wording at the top?
I have a 1&1 domain, and I use it to forward to a blogger account. However, the words “Web hosting, domain name registration, and web service by 1&1” still appears at the top of the browser. HOW DO I GET RID OF IT?
I feel like I’m being scammed by 1&1 and it’s frustrating.
I not sure how to respond to an answer, so I’ll add details.
Sadly, I am very web–hosting illiterate (which is why I use Blogger instead of designing my own thing), and all I could figure out to do on 1&1 is forward the destination. I don’t know where to upload anything.
admin answers:
You have two types of redirection with 1&1:
– Frame redirect
– HTTP redirect
When you use frame redirection, you will see your domain instead of the one you’re redirecting to. 1&1 hosts a page which is set up so that it displays your blog inside of this page. You’re never actually leaving the page.
When you use HTTP redirection, you leave your domain and 1&1 completely. Your domain is not visible anymore.
If you use JavaScript to break out of the frame, the end result will be the same as with HTTP redirection. If your visitor has JS disabled, it will not work.
If you *want* your domain to show, you can customize the page’s title where you set up domain redirection. It will always stay the same (remember, you’re never really leaving the page).
On the page where you setup domain redirection, choose “Frame redirect”. You will have an option to change the title.

Really?!? You want someone to answer EVERY question in your assignment? Did you even try?!? Most of these questions could be found in five minutes using Google.
If you really want to be lazy, just put answer 1 for all of them; odds are you’ll be right on a couple.
Steven asks…
Does Yahoo Sitebuilder require you to use their web hosting service with the site you design?
I made a big website using that program and want to use other hosting services. No I am concerned that it might have a certain feature that only allows you to use their hosting serivice. I hope not, I like 1&1 Internet much better.
admin answers:
There should not be a problem unless your site has ads from the Sitebuilder. This would make odd having a site on 1&1 designed in Yahoo SItebuilder. Contact 1&1.

I use 1 and 1, they are a great company. I think you should choose the home package and you can always upgrade if you need it.
