Chris asks…

Does Yahoo Web Hosting support Dolphin 7?

I’ve read you need to have a web host before you install Dolphin 7. So I was wondering if Yahoo Web Hosting supports Dolphin 7. A simple yes or no would be fine for this question.

admin answers:

Sorry, Yahoo hosting does not support the creation of cron jobs which is a requirement for this software.

George asks…

how do you sell your domain and yahoo web hosting account to a business partner?

We recently registered a domain name and set up a web hosting account. as I move to a different venture I am trying to remove myself as the account holder and transfer the account and domain name to one of my partners in the business.

admin answers:

I don’t believe that you can do this. Once you have register your name and domain name it is final. Your partner would have to open a new account with a new domain name.

Your Questions About Domain Web Host

Maria asks…

Are there any websites where I can buy a domain and a web host all in one?

For a relatively cheap price?

Thanks in advance to all who answer my question!

admin answers:

I recommend one of these: https://www.hosttell.com/

Powweb has the best offer right now. It’s on a 50% sale – $3.88/month ($46.56/year), and you get a free domain from them.

Mary asks…

How to make a domain name (.com) without a web host service aka for free?

I need a simple yet professional website for a small business. One that offers features that allow paypal and other things optimal for business success. Not looking to pay anything, not even a small fee. Also, not looking for the cheapo unprofessional sites which add their domain name in with mine in the address box. Any suggestions very much appreciated on free reputed web hosting!

admin answers:

Free domain:

You could try to earn your .com from a place like https://ezyreward.com . But that can take a while, so you may want to try something else.

Http://co.cc (you.co.cc for free. However, since yours is a small business, they may make you pay after a year).

Another option is you.biz.tm which you can get from https://freedns.afraid.org

Free hosting: https://byethost.com , https://hosthelpers.com or https://000webhost.com may be helpful to you. They don’t place ads on your site, and they allow you to use your own domain name with them, so that your site won’t be you.thehostwebsite.com.

Paul asks…

Is this good Free web hosting and domain hostin plane?

Hello everyone!
Today I just found this free host with:

– 1500 MB of Disk Space
– 100 GB Bandwidth
– Your own domain hosting
– cPanel Control panel
– Website Builder
– Over 500 website templates ready for download
– Free POP3 Email Box and Webmail access
– FTP and Web based File Manager
– PHP, MySQL, Perl, CGI, Ruby.
– No Ads at all !

admin answers:

I would suggest 000webhost free hosting. They have no ads, 1.5GB of space, 100GB of monthly bandwidth and most of the basic things are supported. They also have a website autoinstaller which you can use to install shopping websites, forums, blogs and more with 1 click. I would say a free host is the best to start with, then you can switch to a payed one with more options if you need them.

James asks…

What are the significances to be considered while purchasing “Domain Name and Web Host”?

Dear Friends,

I have planned to publish my own web site so I am now ready to purchase “Domain Name and Web Host” via Internet. so, Plz. Express your marvellous experience and Idea about “Domain & Host” and which Domin Name is popular in the world ex.(com.net.org.) and what are the significances to be considered in mind before ordering Domain & Host

admin answers:

TLD or Top Level Domains (.com, .net, .org) .com is the biggest and also the most expensive to find good names for.

Http://www.WallStreet.com was bought by 3 kids and sold for 3 million dollars
where as https://www.YouTube.com was built and within 9 months sold for 3 billion dollars

https://www.MySpace has been redesigned and seems to be worst now then it was before due to the platform they are using to offer to there clients.

Http://www.FaceBook.com has stayed clean and lean for many years making back-end changes that don’t hurt there people’s activities.

But when looking for a name you need to consider to compete against a target market you need more then a name but a platform and a service market.

Names under 10 letters are a good choice. It can be a phrase of words such as https://www.LookMeUp.com this one is simple and easy to understand and only 8 letters or it can be something like https://www.Hi5.com they both are common phrases that people associate with easy.

The .net stuff is really kinda dead just look at for instance https://www.USA.net it was very big back in the early 2000’s but now it is faded into the back ground. Be careful with .net and .org names they are becoming more defined types of web sites.

You really need to look at what your going to offer to figure out what the best name might be. All part of branding.

Here is an example of a long name I recently found which was very popular but is in violation of the 1998 ICANN laws https://www.ESPNsports.com I contacted the company and found out that they are original owners since 1997 and are not subject to the 98 laws. They told me that they have over 15k people a day and in Dec. And Jan that would rise to over 100k a day due to Football.
They also told me that it is not a good idea to search for branded names because they will be taken away based on that 98 law for 100USD. So stay away from a TM or Highly Branded name.

As for host this all depends on your level of business you will be doing and the traffic you are projecting.

If you plan to start out and have say in one month to have 20k people a day or less a simple hosting company like offered in the other articles would be fine, but if you see the future of having say 500k or more people a day you will need a single server alone and a dedicated line for bandwidth. The VSP (Virtual Service Provider) are good but you need to see if they are scalable to meet your demands and budget. If they offer private servers and good bandwidth.

I was able to snag a really cool name outside of the TDL’s https://www.IfItWere.Me a couple years ago. It’s 8 letters and completes a phrase so it was a good name outside a TDL but it will take a lot of branding to get people to recognize the .me extension.

All can say is you really need to think about a ton of variables before you buy the name to launch your product.

Good Luck
Peace

Charles asks…

which is the best web hosting company?

Hope you are well…. I need some advice please…. I will be making a information (not selling stuff) website When you have a second, please inform me of the best (price, reliability, service etc) web Host company. I have already bought 3 domain names and need to Host them. Ideally I want to 1 Host for all 3 domains. If you have any experiance / advice please tell me the best and worst company. There are a lot of forums out there but it seems there are hundreds of diff companies. Once I get the host, I will attempt to build my website myself – unless you think I should chose a web design company. Thanks so much! 🙂

Nancy asks…

Any tricks to getting PHP SSI working with 1&1?

Hello,
After a long hiatus I have decided to get back into working on my web project. I am confident with using HTML and CSS, but what I want to do is to “embed” external files into a master file. I asked this question not long ago and user Benjamin said to use PHP includes. Previously I was using the tag and getting no results, but now when I use:

I can see the content area showing properly when I drag the mouse, but the content area itself is blank.

I’m using 1&1 as my web host. I contacted them on this matter and they said that to use SSI, I would need to upgrade my package to the Business package, which I did last night. Still the same thing is happening though where no content is loading. They replied back to me and said that they needed to look at my “SSI” file, which I had no idea I was supposed to even make.

I am wondering, what is this SSI file and what needs to go in there in order to properly use the command?

Thank you.
Adam Lawton

admin answers:

Try using a .htaccess directive in the root of your web folder, and put this in it:

php_flag allow_url_include 1

Ken asks…

What does it mean when a web host says unlimeted domains? does it mean i can keep multiple sites in 1 package?

If a web host states unlimeted domains for 4.99$ for example does this mean i can keep my 10 web sites with that host and only pay 4.99?

admin answers:

Yes, but shop wisely while choosing your web host. Some hosts claim to be selling unlimited of everything. Unlimited bandwidth, disk space, domains, etc. There is no magical server with unlimited resources, so this is nothing but a marketing lie. They write in very small letters in their TOS that if you use “too much server resources” your account will be suspended. I find this kind of business very indecent.

I’d recommend you https://www.virgohosting.com as I work with them for years, had no bad surprises so far.

Your Questions About Web Host Reviews

Joseph asks…

What is a web hosting service? Is there an objective hosting review site out there?

I am looking for a web hosting service to host a website for a business that will be quite MySQL heavy. I’ve been searching for review wesbites, but they all seem so unprofessional and have very different rankings from each other. I get the sense that a lot of them are sponsored and biased. Is there an objective review site out there?
I meant “What is a GOOD web hosting service review website”

admin answers:

Well, actually there isn’t a 100% objective site. All sites operate for a purpose.

I use Bluehost and they’re better than anything else I’ve seen.

William asks…

Advice and suggestions on web hosting companies?

I’ve been looking for a webhost to host 3 different sties I have under 1 plan. I don’t need a dedicated server or anything big and fancy (yet).

I use Yahoo now for one of my sites but they don’t support hosting multiple domains on one plan. That is a must for me.

So far I’m considering BlueHost, DreamHost, and IPowerWeb. Any thoughts on them? Are there any other hosts I should consider?

Are there any good web hosting catalogs with user reviews? I looked for user reviews web hosting providers and I didn’t have much luck.
@#Red and others:

I will not click affiliate links or any links which appear to have referal code.

John asks…

Where Can I find a Web Host with Good Customer Service for MySQL Users?

I need a Web Host that provides good telephone customer service by people who actually know what they’re talking about when it comes to SQL, htaccess files and the like. My current provider has reasonable basic customer service for everyday users but they are worse than useless when it comes to more complicated problems. They literally will not let me (or any customer) talk directly with the few people (their off-limit “techs”) who know anything about these topics.

I know there are many reviews of Web hosts online, but the problem is there are so many that I don’t know who to trust or where to begin looking for a new host.

Price is not a huge option with me, since I’m at the point where I would gladly pay double my current hosting fee just to know my site was “in the hands” of people who were willing (and knew how) to help me when problems arise.

Thanks for any guidance!

Brian

Are common web hosting services like Godaddy the same as shared web hosting services?

Hi,

I want to know if Godaddy, HostGator,… are considered as shared servers or there are differences between mentioned services and a shared web server.

Thank you

admin answers:

I can only answer for GoDaddy as I’m a client. Yes. It’s shared hosting unless you purchased a dedicated hosting plan which is $$$
