Your Questions About Yahoo Small Business Web Hosting

Linda asks…
How to consolidate my domain name with my other web hosting plan from yahoo small business server?
I want to add my existing domain to my web hosting plan in yahoo small business server.

admin answers:
You can sign up for Yahoo! Web Hosting plan using a domain you already own, and then redelegate the nameservers from your existing registrar. Also, eventually, since Yahoo! Allows you to transfer your domain to them as part of the hosting service, you can do that when you’re ready.

George asks…
Can Yahoo offer a smaller web hosting package for small business. Something between the domain and webhosting?

admin answers:
Why does it necessarily have to be Yahoo? What specific features are you looking for?
For web hosting, I like HostGator. They have a decent package for $9.95 (US) a month (as low as $4.95 a month, if you’re willing to pay for more than one month in advance).
If you need extra features instead of just a basic hosting plan, you might want to look at some of the free open-source software that you can install. There are some MAJOR businesses and non-profits running on Drupal and Joomla, for example. Getting software like that installed and configured takes only a few mouse clicks IF the host you sign with is using cPanel and Fantastico (which most of the better hosting plans are using).
If you need an online store, again there are a lot of options. ZenCart and osCommerce are popular, though I prefer Drupal’s eCommerce add-in module.

Mandy asks…
Anyone know about Yahoo Web Hosting for small business?
Have you used Yahoo‘s Web Hosting for small business? Can you give my your experience with them. The good and the bad? Fair prices? Good service? etc… Thank you

admin answers:
Yahoo hosting isn’t too bad but as the others have said, there are certainly some limitations depending on what exactly you want to do. Their prices are pretty comparable to others from what I’ve seen. They’re probably a good option if you don’t need too much control over the server and just want to have an easy, reliable place to host your business site.
If you want to explore some other options for business hosting, you might want to check ou this site. You can find good breakdown of various business web hosting solutions. It helped me out alot:
