I’m from Australia too, I’ve got a little bad news.
If you want hosting in Australia, you’ll be paying much higher rates for little extra advantage. You’re probably aware that internet fees are much higher in Australia due to high taxes used to maintain internet connections to less populated areas throughout Australia. (A lot of cable and maintenance is required to give all of Australia internet, so people in Sydney, etc pay extra to make up for the few people in remoter areas.)
The hosting companies also face higher fees because of these reasons, hence giving Australian hosting higher cost and few advantages.

Unless there’s a really important reason for you to host in Australia, I’d look abroad like I have.
