Free web hosting services (Ajax/PHP/MySQL)?
I invite recommendations in respect to free web hosting services. I need to host a small non-commercial data-driven website and am looking for free hosting on a server that allows me to use Ajax, PHP and MySQL; I would also like to upload and download pages and images etc., with my own ftp client rather than through a browser. Ideally I would like viewers of the site to be able to download free application programs and scripts that I have written. The site will include a number of flash movies but is not likely to need to feature video, music or other kinds of multimedia presentations.
Anyone out there that has had good or bad experiences with such services?
Your advice would be appreciated.

Which type of web hosting service should you buy to host a LISTSERV?
I need to set up a LISTSERV and I was told I need to buy web space to host it but I don’t know if there’s anything in particular feature that’s required from the web hosting service. Like, I saw that some services offer Linux Serves and some other offer Windows servers as well as some say things about php support and scripts a lot more of features that I don’t really know much about.
Does anybody out there have an idea of the requirements (if any special ones) that I need in order to run a LISTSERV?

OMG! Please don’t waste your time, my time and the time of others looking for the same information. If you know the answer then please share your knowledge with the community and if you DON’T then please DON’T post anything! I believe the question I’ve made is pretty clear. Don’t tell me that I can use a free service! I obviously don’t want to do that!

If this is for school of business you should be able to use one of their computers. You are just setting up a mailing list. Most schools and large companies already have mailing lists; you just need to add a new one.
Otherwise what’s wrong with some of the free ones, like Yahoo! Groups, Google Groups?
If you really need to run the LISTSERV program, then you’ll need to find someone who’ll host it for you.
