What do you consider cheating? I am a Christian and I believe even an emotional affair is detrimental to a relationship. My husband has continually lied to me about things that if he were to tell me straight out I would have been mad but would have respected him because he told me the truth. But now in the last 8 months he has continually lied to me about going to porn websites after I nicely and respectfully asked him not to do so, and has actually wrote “Hey nice video” to a girl who hosts a webcam thing.

Thank you all for your point of view, I found some of the answers a little heartless and some well…just plain bizzare. Recently the talk show host, Ellen Degeneres, has been using her resources as a celebrity to voice her avocations in supporting gay marriages. While doing this she has also criticized and falsified those supporting the sacredness of marriage, and those putting effort into protecting the definition of marriage to be only between one man and one woman. Some of Ellen’s recent actions to discourage supporters of Proposition 8 have been her public announcement stating that those supporting Proposition 8 are twisting the truth and using scare tactics.

Her appearance on Jay Leno where she suggests the money go to a better cause, and that Proposition 8 promotes hate.

Again, she announced on her show her opinions regarding these issues and attacked Governor Palin for being in favor of banning gay marriage. Also stating that gay marriages won’t effect or influence children.

On her web site she now has posted an article attacking those raising funds to support Proposition 8 specifically saying to Mormon’s (and other Christian groups) what business is it of ours.

“Social conservatives and various religious groups, including a massive influx of money from the Mormon Church in Utah, are campaigning heavily for Prop 8 to pass. One wonders what business it is of theirs. Marriage has its public side, but given the sharp decline in marriage since the Seventies, what precious institution are they protecting?”

I am a lesbian, and I don’t agree with Ellen at all, marriage is between a MAN AND A WOMAN PERIOD, just because i am a lesbian doesn’t mean that I get to ram my feelings and beliefs or preferences down the throats of all the other Americans. , there are ways to make sure that the gay and lesbian community get to have their rights without infringing on others rights, I think Ellen and the gay and lesbian community needs to try to get with their congressional supporters and enact a law or amendment that would be called the parriage act, ( a pair of the same, in other words two men , or two women = a pair thus a parriage), and that will give the gay and lesbian community the rights they want without changing the definition of marriage. Why is the definition of marriage important to remain unchanged, well because if the definition of marriage gets changed to include two men or two women , then that will in essence violate the rights of any churches , and all people that do not believe that gays should marry, and IT WILL TURN THE BIBLE INTO A BOOK OF HATE AND CHURCHES INTO PLACES OF HATE CRIMES, because the bible states that men are to be with women, and I for one know that the bible is not an instrument of hate , nor are most churches. Everybody that thinks that a yes vote on prop 8 is discrimination on the homosexual community, well it’s not , it’s discrimination on ALL OTHER PEOPLE IN SOCIETY, can you imagine the lawsuits if a church tells a homosexual couple that they will not marry them. It will happen thats why i am a lesbian and cannot support this prop. There is no reason that a church should be forced to marry a homosexual couple by the law, that is dicrimination. vote yes on prop 8 and try to get legislation enacted for a parriage act, that would be defined as a parriage between 2 men or 2 women. Everybody would then have the rights that they want without causing churches to become hate groups and the bible to become an instrument of hate. After all if you think it is not fair that you can’t marry the one you love then you should also think it unfair that a church or christian group should have to perform a marriage that is fundamentally wrong to them. That would be the equivalent to someone passing a law that says I cannot be a lesbian and force me to marry a man. Theres more to the whole gay marriage issue than just the fact that homosexuals want to marry the one they love, lots more issues.

The purpose of this, and what I am suggesting is that Ellen has a large audience of housewives; women who are home during the day to watch her show. If those who believe in the sanctity of marriage between a man and women are endorsing her show, then it is giving her more power to sway against that union we hold to be sacred. It might be time to reconsider what she stands for, and if it really coincides with what you know to be true.
