Your Questions About Web Host Provider

Sandra asks…

I need a REALLY good reliable FREE web host provider! 🙂 Can anyone help me?

I need a VERY good, VERY reliable FREE webhost provider. I’ve been using freewebs- which isn’t that bad…but I need more in a host. 😀 Can anyone give me some suggestions! It’ll be GREATLY appreciated! 🙂 Thanks!
Oh- subdomains are FINE! XD I already have a domain name so I’m quite sure their service will allow me to use it- I hope, lol.
Well, I don’t need anything fancy, I really just need a RELIABLE host. 🙂 Freewebs wasn’t very reliable- sometimes my pages would go missing, ect, ect. Really, all I need in a host is for it to be reliable and for me to be able to upload my own html and css documents instead of using a page builder. 😀

admin answers:

Go to https://www.myownfreeweb.com where you can get 250MB disk space, 6GB bandwidth, Webmail, Email, MySQL, use PHP or HTML, 29 Preinstalled scripts like WordPress or Fantastico, and it is VERY RELIABLE!!!! Using cluster technology so your web site is never down. One server backing up another server. If one goes down the other takes over. I have never seen any down time yet. If you want reliability, I think this will do it. Much better than Freewebs.

Ken asks…

How do you know your Web Hosting Provider can be trusted?

Many companies offers web hosting services. How do you know they can be trusted of protecting your data? What if something happen like losing, corrupted, or stolen of your data stored on their servers?

admin answers:

One way to check the reliability of a web hosting provider is to review the statements from other customers. Find out if they have experienced problems in the past. Also, see what steps the web hosting provider has taken to ensure that they are reliable and that if they have a problem it will be corrected quickly.

This means that you should look for things such as redundancy in their equipment. Find out what their percentage of down time is by reviewing their website. Most web hosting companies provide service that is quite reliable; however you’ll want to steer away from those with poor track records.

Betty asks…

Is there a free web hosting provider that will let me use my own nameservers (DNS) and not theirs?

When I try to sign up for free web hosting accounts, the first thing it does is tell me to go to my domain host and switch my DNS control to them. I want to keep my DNS where it is. Does anyone know of a free hosting service that will simply allow me to point my “A” record to a provided (shared) IP address?

admin answers:

Begin with setting up your own webpage as your current internet provider will provide free hosting as discussed below.

If you are currently a paid Internet subscriber, you are entitled to a “homepage” which often contains simple navigation and editing tools. And if you use the Netscape browser, the built-in Composer feature is a superior HTML authoring tool which is totally free. You can easily generate a full-blown website as a Homepage.

Nevertheless, the “homepage” URL is likely to be “https://homepage.earthlink.com/subscribe… Name” and that URL can easily be overwritten via a redirection service, i.e., “mydomain.com” which allows you to link any registered domain name to “mask” another website. For example, should you type in the “domain name,” you will be immediately transported to the homepage and the hompage URL of https://homepage.earthlink.com/subscriber… A homepage URL which will be masked by the domain name. And the charge for the redirection service [even at godaddy.com] is normally FREE.

When you acquire a domain name, connect it using a redirection service [as discussed above] and submit/publish the domain name on major search engines/directories in order for Net surfers to find your website.

Good luck!

Mark asks…

I have the domain from godaddy and the hosting with yahoo , how do you get yahoo dns info for the servers. When will they give me this information

admin answers:

Paul asks…

Which package of the Yahoo Web Hosting for owning a domain is the best?

Just receive a mail from Yahoo, offering $1.99/1year for a domain name. I also checked the website which offering another $8.99/first 3 years for a domain name. What is the different? How can I check? Which one is the best?

Thank you very much

admin answers:

You need to be careful if you get a domain with Yahoo. The $1.99 is only for the first year, and for the next year, they will automatically charge you credit card with the full amount ($34.95/year or something more).

It happened to me, so I would not want that to happen to you or anybody else. Their support is also poor so forget about getting back your money. The other offers on their website got the same trick around them. Don’t fall for them.

Just go get a domain from a registrar that doesn’t suck like Dotster: https://hostingsthatsuck.com/dotster-web-hosting-sucks

or just go with Godaddy.

Is Fast Web Hosting For You?

There are a slew of companies out there that offer web hosting services but your ultimate choice needs to be up to par with your needs and expectations. If you have or plan to have a website or blog that has a lot of traffic and content, you need fast web hosting! Fast web hosting services, or high performance web hosting services, have additional power and features that allow you to maintain a site that performs well and stays fast even with millions of visitors each month.

What Fast Web Hosting Services Provide that Others Don’t

If you need to go beyond the basic plans, which is likely if you are hosting a popular blog or website, fast web hosting services generally provide 99.9% uptime, as well as unlimited disk space, transfer, sites, MySQL databases, and domains under one plan. Some fast web hosting services can be paid on a month-to-month basis while others tie you into long-term contracts. Before signing a long-term contract, be sure to do your homework.

How to Narrow Your Search for a Fast Web Hosting Service

If you find that your top choice companies that provide fast web hosting offer just about the same thing, the first way to start crossing names off the list is to compare prices. If the services are no different, the price is lower, and customer reviews don’t raise any red flags, it makes sense to go with the cheaper option.
Web hosting companies offer incentives so that more customers sign up. Compare the incentives offered by each of your top choices. All fast web hosting providers generally offer a money-back guarantee but some companies offer them for a longer period than others. You will also see companies that offer a few months of free service or a discount coupon upon signing up. Writing down the names of your top choices along with all of their incentives is a good way to get an idea of which companies offer the best incentives.
Building a successful website or blog is not only time consuming; it is a huge investment. It only makes sense to choose a fast web hosting service to make sure that your site’s performance matches your site’s success level. If you are a newbie and need plenty of customer support, you have to find a fast web hosting service that takes customer service seriously. Customer/tech support is especially important if you are new to the game because you are likely to have a lot more questions and problems to deal with along the way.
In conclusion, fast web hosting is essential if you are planning to have a website with a lot of content and visitors. Services, price, and incentives should all play a role in the decision-making process and newbies especially need to make sure that the company they choose takes customer service seriously. Do yourself a favor and research your options before settling on a fast web hosting service.

I don’t want to pay more than £80 a year, and UK based support is important. Thanks

Paul asks…

Can anyone recommend a good ASP.Net Web Host?

I’m looking for a reasonably priced ASP.Net Web Host with SQL Server. .Net framework should be 3.5, SQL 2005 would be desirable but not essential.

Unfortunately, most review sites seem to be dominated by Web Hosts themselves who pay for rankings, or masquerade as customers to give false reviews!

All answers not actually from a web hosting provider appreciated!

Thanks

admin answers:

Godaddy, ive been using them for years, to be fair ive been using their Linux hosting not ASP.Net but they are a great company and offer great features for a reasonable price, they have the features you require, check them out.

Your Questions About 1 And 1 Web Hosting

George asks…

How do I publish a WEBSITE using Microsoft Expression Web 2 !!??? Im a beginner please be thorough.?

I have created 1 web page using a CSS Template and i wanted to publish it. I dont know how. Please tell me a free web hosting service that i can use to publish this. Please be thorough in explaining because in only a beginner. Thanks a lot.

admin answers:

There is no such thing as free lunch, it says. Free hosting will take advantage of you one way or another and they might sell your info or will sell ad space on your webpages. They are also not as reliable as paid ones.

When I started building websites, I was confused which web hosting to go for. Now I am clear about which web hosting provider is good and reliable. For your information concerned with choosing web hosting, I have selected top web hosting providers.

Compare the hosting providers.

Nancy asks…

How do I consolidate 2 different yahoo ID’s and 2 different web sites to 1 yahoo ID?

I own 2 different web sites. Both are hosted by Yahoo Small Business They are completely different from the other. I own one with one Yahoo ID and the other one with another Yahoo ID. When I’m making changes to my web sites, I have to log out of one ID and log into the other ID to make changes to the other web site. It’s a huge pain, and I can’t find any answers to this particular question.

admin answers:

You can consolidate your two domains under a single Yahoo! ID, which will make site management much easier. For more information, please contact us at https://yhoo.it/bK3UrI.

Mandy asks…

I need to understand the size of 1 web page, how big should they be, whats a normal size(mb)?

if i build 4 or 5 pages on Print shop pro how big should each one be?the size –>(MB) top to bottom left to right, i need help on that! what is a good size (MB for one page? if i had 4 or 5 pages is that ok for a web site? should i have more?after i build the pages then what? how to get them published or online hosted and all? #! i build the page then build 3 more now what? how to actually save my work so i dont loose it..then how to publish it to the web( what about a host? What do host do…that i cant do?

admin answers:

One page on the Web (including images) should not be bigger than 500KB (that’s half a MB), in general; after that, it starts to take a long time to load. Try to access your website from a computer like your users will have. Does it take more than 3-5 seconds to get the page? If so, it’s too big. The 5 seconds rule is actually the benchmark for size; after that time, many people will click ‘Back’ and look elsewhere.

Daniel asks…

Which reputable web hosts allow you to host multiple sites and more importantly allow DNS pointing of domains?

Im looking for a reputable and reliable host that allows.

I need to be able to:

1. host multiple websites with different domains

2. DNS point domains into the hosting package i.e; domains registered with other registrars.

thanks guys.

admin answers:

I recommend Dreamhost https://www.dreamhost.com/hosting.html

They’re the best:

1. You get a free domain from them (actually 2 if you use the promo code, more about that later), or you can use one of these free domains to transfer your existing one to Dreamhost, and extend its’ registration for one more year, all for free of course.
2. They have 500 GB of Disk Space and increasing
3. 5TB (5000 GB) of Bandwidth and increasing
4. You can use their huge Disk Space and host multiple sites on a single account.
5. Their price is $119.40/year ($9.95/month if you pay yearly)
6. Which is a pretty standard price but they have a promotion:
Use the Promo Code: PLUS (at sign up page) and get a $50 discount + 2 Free Domain Names
7. This way you get them for $69.40/year ($5.78/month) including 2 Free Domain Names!

I host over 20 sites on a single account!
(I registered most of those domain names through https://www.namecheap.com and pointed them to Dreamhost)
