Your Questions About Google Web Hosting
Michael asks…
How can I change the MX record on my domain name (hosted by web.com) to rout email to Google Apps?
I have found the actual MX records that I need to insert (they are given by google) but I don’t actually know HOW to put them in, and do not really understand html formatting. Please help?

The good news: You don’t need to know HTML.
You need to log into the account at the domain registrar’s website. That’s where the domain name settings are. Godaddy.com or register.com or 1and1.com or another company that does domain name registration. You probably get emails from them if you own your domain name about renewing your domain name, etc.
Once you get logged in there, go to the controls for the domain name, which differ from one registrar to another. Reference the help section to talk to customer service there if you need help finding the MX records for the domain.

I recommend one of these: http://www.tophostingpicks.com
iPage has the best offer right now.
Their standard price is $84/year ($6.95) but they have
a 50% sale, one year of hosting for $42.00.
Their plan includes:
Unlimited disk space
Unlimited bandwidth
Free domain name
Price: $42/year ($3.50)
They have one of the most popular hosting platforms, which currently hosts over a million websites. They’re also one of the oldest hosting companies, founded in 1998.
They include a free point & click online site builder so you can create a website without any programming (easily, just by drag and drop).
They also have a great custom control panel with OneClick installs of all the popular software like WordPress, Joomla, Forums, Chat, Galleries, Online stores and a lot more.
Sandy asks…
What’s the minimum I need to know, to create a web site and put it on Google?
I’ve done the HTML/XHTML tutorials on the W3 Web schools site. Once finishing the CSS tutorial, I’m wondering if that’s enough to create a site, add some google ads and get it out there. (I know I’ll need a a web host and domain.)
Is there anything else I should learn first? (eg. how do to measure traffic)
admin answers:
You measure traffic using software that you’ll either install to your web hosting account, use a site stats company, or your web hosting company may have this for you. It usually requires you to add a short javascript code to every page you’ll be tracking.
So it is basically just build the website’s files, upload them to the host, then point the domain to the host. Make sure you have the meta tags with different descriptions and keywords targeted for every page. Make sure everything is working properly before submitting to search engines. Charles asks…
If I sign up for domain hosting through google apps, will I be able to use my own html editor.?
I am doing a project for school and it must be done with Expression Web by Microsoft.
$10/yr domain hosting via Google sounds like a great deal if it is compatible with Expression Web.
Thanks in advance.
admin answers:
Google apps will not support other html editor.
It is based on Ajax technology and you can plug your domain
with google apps.
Because of WYSIWYG page creator it is easy to design your
pages.
It is better to use Google pages directly than converting your pages designed outside it.
